Why Is It Important to Build the Foundation of Your Well-Being

A house without a solid foundation, no matter how pretty it looks, it is only a matter of time for that house to fall down. This is because for anything, a foundation needs to be created. The same goes for your well-being.

The foundation of your well-being is you. You are the foundation. Unless you are right, unless you are strong within, unless you are mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically right, nothing in your life can be right.

The reason why you want a strong foundation is because everything, absolutely everything starts with you. For your relationship with others to be healthy, you first must have a healthy relationship with yourself. For your body to be right, you first must have a healthy relationship with your body. For you not to allow things to affect you in such a personal way, you first need to be right mentally and emotionally. For you to be able to handle the difficult moments in life, you have to have a strong connection with yourself.

Nothing in your life can work unless you are right. Nothing in your life can go well unless you are well. Everything is a reflection of you. This is why you need to have a strong foundation if you want great well-being. You do this by doing the inner work. You do this by mastering yourself. There is no other way around it.

Mastering yourself leads to freedom. Mastering yourself leads to self-confidence. Mastering yourself leads to ultimate happiness. There is nothing like you mastering yourself to the point where you know where you are heading, you know your value, you know what you’re all about.

So with today’s post, I would like to encourage you to start building that foundation of well-being and that foundation is YOU. Hire a coach if you need to. If you have any deep and personal issues, hire a psychologist or therapist. Do whatever you need to do in order to get yourself fit mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Are You Feeding the Negative Emotion?

This is an extremely important topic because many times we overlook how we are feeding the emotions we are feeling. So, if you or anyone you know is constantly feeling the blues, feeling overwhelmed or feeling empty, this post will be of value for you.

If you are constantly feeling any “negative” emotion, have you considered the fact that perhaps you are unknowingly feeding that “negative” emotion? The reason why I write the word negative in quotation marks is because I don’t think any emotion is negative. However, they can turn negative when we don’t learn and understand that emotion that we are feeling.

Any emotion that you are feeling is just feedback from your soul. It is your job to sit with it for a bit and understand it. Just like you would sit with your child and listen to him/her when he/she is feeling a certain way, it’s important that you do the same with yourself. This is a form of self-love and self-care. It is when we don’t do this that we start to neglect ourselves. When we neglect ourselves, those emotions that one would consider negative then turns negative,  which eventually then starts eating us up, affecting other areas of our life.

Our actions, apart from our thinking, also affect our emotions. So if you constantly find yourself feeling down, worried, anxious, etc., you have to consider the actions that you are taking. Are you feeding that emotion that you are feeling? If so, why?

You may wonder “how am I feeding this emotion if I don’t want to feel this way?!” Well, good question! We don’t intentionally do this but sometimes we do. The way you may be constantly feeding that emotion is if, say for example, you are feeling depressed and so you feel like not doing anything. The very act of not doing anything, just sitting there and not going out, not getting yourself dressed, is feeding that emotion. If you feel fear of doing something that you know would be very helpful for you and would move you forward, you giving into that fear is feeding that emotion.

I know it is easier said that done but it is necessary to be conscious of the actions you take and not feed that emotion. If you feel very down and you feel like not doing anything, do the opposite of what you are feeling. Do something because this will break what you are feeling. The more you keep feeding that emotion, the worse you will feel. This is when it becomes a cycle that seems difficult to break.

For your well-being, it is a must to be conscious of your actions and feelings. It is a must to break any emotion that can become negative for you. You break it by not feeding that emotion. You stop feeding it by doing the opposite of what you are feeling.

The Same Ol’ Same Ol’……

I would like to discuss this on today’s post because many times the reason why we feel so bored, frustrated, stuck, down, among other “negative” emotions that just rob our joy of living is precisely that- the same ol’ same ol’.

There are times when things being just the way they are is a great thing because things can always be worse. But, if this is the way you are feeling about your life, it is a matter of time for “negative” emotions to come to the surface.

Life becomes enjoyable when there is spice in our life. The truth is that we need a little bit of everything in order to feel great about life. Too much is the same as too little, as the saying goes in Italian. It’s in having a bit of everything that you are able to have balance.

One thing that you must remember is that you are the one who puts that spice in your life. No one else can do that for you. You are the one who knows exactly the recipe to your exciting life. No one else can get it quite like you can.

Now, you may be fooled into thinking that you need others in order to add that spice to life. Yes, your relationship with others is very important and others do play a role in your overall well-being but, one thing you must remember is that every relationship starts first with you.

In order for you to be able to add that spice in your life, you have to be right within you. You need to be centered, fully nurtured, fully loved, fully taken care of, fully appreciated and all this must first come from you.

You are the one who needs from you first. Others don’t need you first; remember that you are the one who needs you first. This is because only from a place of you being so full that you are able to give your best to others. It is only from a place of love that you are able to give genuine love to others.

Your spice will come from you knowing yourself so well to the point that you do and give yourself exactly what you need in order to be fully happy. Your spice will come from feeling so secure within yourself and that security comes from within. You get that security through self-mastery- there is no other way around it.

If you find yourself saying “same ol’ same ol’ ” and this just doesn’t feel good to you, it’s time to add some spice in your life. It’s time to shake things up a bit. It’s time for a change. Change for everyone will mean something different and it will be different for everyone. It could mean a change in your routine, a change in mindset, a change of job, where you live, etc.

Know that your life is not meant to be stagnant. Know that you are not meant to settle for something that just doesn’t feel right. Know that none of this leads to greater well-being. It’s important that you take responsibility for this and make the change necessary in order to make your life into one that you love.

Know Your Values

These past few years have been nothing but growth for me. This growth, though, came with so much disappointment and hurt but the lessons are so valuable that I can’t put a price to this. One of the things that I learned was the importance of truly knowing what your values are.

The reason why you want to know what your values are is because if you want to attract the kind of people that you need, the friendships that will truly nurture your soul, the loving man or woman that you want, etc. it’s important to know what you value. For instance, I realized these past two years that I truly value people who don’t consistently speak awful about others whether that be their family, friends, etc. Why? Because to me this shows me what the person is capable of saying even about me and it tells me what is in their heart.

When you know what you truly value, you will attract and let in those things and people that align with what you value. But unless you get a good understanding of who you are and what matters most to you, you can’t position yourself to allow only the things, people and situations that you truly want.

So, how do you know what your values are? Well, this comes with self-analysis. It comes with the willingness to go deep within you to understand what truly matters most to you. It takes a willingness to want to take the time for you to know who you are. And it takes a willingness to grow. Know that as you get older, your values may slightly change due to the experiences you have. Every encounter you have, every relationship, every circumstance will shape you in some way.

If you allow the growth, you allow the lessons that you are meant to learn. You will allow yourself to be a little better than yesterday. You will allow yourself more wisdom. It is through this growth that you will learn more about your own values.

When you know your values, you won’t waste your time on relationships that will just have you spiraling down. You don’t allow circumstances that don’t add to you. You are more willing to let go of the things that are not working for you no matter how good those things may look on the surface.

The values that I am referring to in today’s post are the ones that are truly aligned with your true essence. Know that there are times when we may have values that conflict with one another, which is something that I mention because of personal experience. I will get into conflicting values on another post. For now, it’s important that you become aware of the values that you know that will add to your life greatly. This is why in my coaching program, I coach people on knowing their deep down important values because this is part of mastering yourself to greater well-being.

So, if you find yourself in constant opposition to what you want in life, missing the mark or just not getting what you want, then you have to look into your values. This will help indicate to you the direction you need to be heading in life. Look Forward to New Memories….

I’ve had some people wanting me to post about grief, especially since I lost my dad back in May of 2016. Those who know me well, knew some of the hard times I’ve had. Somehow at this time it is difficult for me to write about grief because I am still grieving my dad. Nonetheless, grief doesn’t only apply to when we lose a loved one to death, one can grief the ending of many things like the ending of a job that one love, the end of a relationship, the end of a friendship, and the list goes on. So how does one deal with these kinds of grief that I just discussed? Although I think no one and nothing is replaceable, I think the best remedy is to allow yourself to feel the emotions you feel, go through the grieving process but always look forward to new memories.

We as human beings have a need to belong, feel needed and of connection. This is because this provides us with some sense of purpose. We need purpose because that is what gives our life meaning. Without purpose, life just feels meaningless and life is not meaningless at all.

Grief is a process that we all will go through at some point of our life and we all go through it in different ways. For two years, a part of me was in denial of my dad’s passing, and mind you, I was there when he passed away. Denial is one of the stages to grieving. Then it hit me on year 2 of his passing that he is actually physically gone. During the two years that I was in denial, I did gain weight. I gained weight because a big part of me didn’t want to feel the emotions I was feeling. This is a big mistake.

Not wanting to feel your emotions is a big mistake because all these emotions will find an outlet somehow. That outlet can be alcohol to numb your emotions, overeating or not eating much, smoking, shopping excessively, among many other things that can mask your emotions.

In any kind of loss that you may have, it’s important to allow yourself to go through the stages that you have to go through and feel your emotions. Know that life goes through different seasons. With any kind of loss, it’s important to allow things to flow. Allow yourself to process what happened. Allow yourself to feel the impact of this loss. Allow yourself to experience the stage of grief however way it needs to go through. But, if you notice that you are hitting rock bottom, please seek help. Know that you are not alone. And remember one very important thing, it’s important that no matter the loss, know that you have new memories to look forward to.

If you are going through a divorce, know that you have even more beautiful memories to experience because the person that is for you has yet to arrive. If someone who you thought was your friend for many years all of a sudden that friendship is broken, know that you have even more beautiful memories to experience with other people who have yet to arrive in your life. You lost a job that you so care about, know that you have even more beautiful memories to look forward to since a bigger and better door has yet to open. You lost a person you care about because they passed away, you still have beautiful memories to look forward to, even if that person will no longer be a part of those new memories.

The reason why you want to remind yourself that you have new memories to look forward to is because when we remain in the thought of what is lost, that can set us back even more, contributing to us hitting rock bottom. Grieving a loss is only natural. That is not something for you to avoid or force yourself not to go through. But what you don’t want to do is remain in the feelings and thoughts of that loss for too long to the point where that is your only focus point.

For as hard as it may be to accept, it is important to always keep in the back of our mind that nothing is forever, not even we are forever. This is the reason why we need to enjoy the present time we have, make the most of it, and know that there are new memories to look forward to always. This mentality is what will allow you to be resilient during very hard times. Wherever the mind goes, the body will follow.

So with today’s post, I want to encourage you if you find yourself feeling very low due to a loss, please remember that you have new memories to look forward to. I dedicate today’s post to my mother who is sadden by my dad’s passing since they have known each other since they were 11 years old. This is because I want her to remember that she still has new memories to look forward to, even if my dad is no longer in those new memories.

Where Are You Hanging Out?

You may read this topic and think that I am referring to where exactly are you hanging out physically as in your environment and although this may be important for purposes of influence, this is not what I am referring to.

There is a world that we tend to take for granted. A world that many of us may not be as aware as we should be. A world and an environment that truly creates the most impact in our life. A world that can literally allow us to have everything we want or it can literally sabotage us from having everything that we want. That world that I am referring to is the one that you hang out in and that is your inner world.

That’s right! I dare to go there because where we decide to hang out in regards to our inner world will be reflected in our outer world. Where we decide to hang out will determine how we will view things. Where we decide to hang out will determine whether we will respond to things or we will react to things. There is a difference between responding and reacting and I can discuss that on another blog post. Where we decide to hang out plays a big role in our overall well-being.

So let’s discuss this for a minute. Where are you hanging out? Know that where you decide to be mentally is totally up to you. What I mean with this is you decide what beliefs you will have. You decide what your thoughts will be. You decide the self talk you will have in your mind. You decide!

Know that where you decide to be emotionally is totally up to you. What I mean with this is you decide how you will feel. You decide how you will feel when others do things. You decide how you will feel when things don’t work out the way you want them to work out. You decide how you will feel during the day. You decide!

Know that where you decide to be physically is totally up to you. What I mean with this is you decide how energetic your body will be based on the way you treat it. You decide how you will respond to what your body signals to you. You decide what relationship you will have with your body. You decide!

If you find yourself constantly feeling sad, depressed, anxious, frustrated, etc., you have to question where have you been hanging out mentally and emotionally. You are what you are thinking and feeling. You are what you decide to be and feel. You need to remember this always. If you constantly find yourself feeling tired, lack of energy, and with no desire to do anything, you have to question where are you hanging out physically. Are you taking care of your body the way you are supposed to? What is your relationship with your body?

Where you hang out plays a big role in your overall well-being. You can’t take for granted where your thoughts are, your emotions are, how your relationship with your body is. You can’t afford to take any of this for granted. How to Start Seeing and Believing in Your Inner Reality

This can be a tough one when the outer reality just doesn’t match how we believe our life is supposed to be. This is because there are certain things that we don’t ask for. We don’t ask to be born in a certain place that perhaps doesn’t resonate with us and the list can go on and on of whatever it is you feel or think you didn’t ask to have or be.

The truth is that you are not condemned to be your genes, your family, your community or whatever it is that you are at the moment. This is because what matters most is how you feel and think you and your life are supposed to be.

So how can you start believing in your inner reality? First, think about what that inner reality looks like. Think about how does it feel like. If it feels right, if it feels really good, go with that feeling. Sit with that feeling for a bit until it feels familiar to you. The purpose of you doing this is that you want to open yourself up to receive guidance as to what the next step should be. Know that everyone is different so the way you may receive your own guidance may be different.

Perhaps you feel compelled to do something and you don’t understand why. That may be your inner being guiding you toward the very thing that is your reality. Before you start thinking that this has nothing to do with believing in your inner reality, I would like to explain something. One very important ingredient to life, even if you don’t believe me at the moment is faith. Faith that you feel the way you do for a reason. If you have a dream inside you, if you have a desire to do something, you have to have faith, which is the belief, that it is placed inside of you for a reason and that the reason is that it is yours already.

I’m sorry to say but if you have no faith whatsoever, you can’t possibly be in a state to receive guidance as to what your next step should be. You can’t because your lack of belief blocks you from knowing what you need to do to get to where you want to get. It’s important to sit with how it feels to live your inner reality because it is there where you will receive inspired action. I look back at my life and it is amazing how it is because I have sat with the emotions of what my inner reality looks like that brought upon a series of events that led me to the very things that I wanted.

So it all starts with faith. Faith that the things that you want are already yours despite what anyone else says and despite how reality looks like. Faith that your life is supposed to be how you envision it to be. Trust me that I understand how frustrating it can be when your reality isn’t the way you want it to be. Trust me that I know that it can be challenging to keep believing when you don’t see what you want coming. But the key is faith and keep sitting with how that inner reality feels so that you can start receiving guidance. It is when you start receiving guidance that slowly but surely you will start seeing reasons to believe in your inner reality.

I’m also going to give this suggestion. Think about all the things that you already manifested in your life. This will help you see that you have the capacity to have the things you want and will help you believe in the things that you want. Start thinking about even the “smallest” things that you were able to have that you wanted. Look for evidence that what you have always wanted is within reach.

To end this post, I would like to encourage you once again to look for evidence that what you have always wanted is within reach. Start having faith and sit with the feelings of that inner reality so that you can start receiving guidance as to what you need to do in order to get yourself closer to living that inner reality.
