What Do You Think/Feel You Deserve?

Today I would like to write about deserving and what does it take to be deserving of anything. I’m going to start off by asking you, what do you think/feel you deserve? That’s right, this is this week’s question and I ask you to take a deep look within to know your answer.

The reason why it is important to know what you think and feel you deserve is because this has a strong correlation with your overall well-being. How so? Whatever you feel or think you deserve is what you will get. So if you think and feel that all you deserve is mistreatment from others, then guess what, that’s exactly what you will get. If instead you know, think and feel that you deserve love and respect, you will get just that. Your overall well-being whether you realize it or not, is a reflection of what you think and feel you deserve. When you know you deserve better, you don’t accept anything less. This is why the topic of deserving can not be left out when it comes to your well-being.

So with all this said, what does it take to be deserving of anything? It is your birthright to be loved, receive love, give love, be healthy, be happy, be wealthy, etc. So it is not a matter of whether there is something that you must be in order to be deserving but it does take you believing with your heart and mind that you are deserving of anything that you want. The most important element here is YOU. This whole act of deserving has nothing to do with your parents, with your friends, with what others think and all to do with how you think and feel about yourself. If you don’t feel deserving, it is important that you work on your self-concept and self-esteem. There is no way around it. This is necessary work for your overall well-being.

Deserving or not deserving….that may seem to be the question but that question is only in your head because you were and always will be deserving of the things that you want. It is a matter of what you think/feel you deserve. So with this, I encourage to start knowing with your mind and heart that you are deserving of all that you want and need.

It’s Little By Little, Day By Day

What inspires me to write this is the fact that my family and I are grieving the passing of my father who passed away this past Friday, May 20th. We know it will take time to accept this fact, to find the conformity in how things happened and to accept that he is no longer with us physically. All that anyone can do in circumstances like this is to remind oneself that it’s little by little, day by day.

It’s little by little, day by day that you will start to accept the fact that whatever that is going on in your life is actually going on in your life. This is because it takes time to process things. It takes time to heal wounds. It takes time to understand things. It takes time to process one’s emotions.

It’s little by little, day by day that you will put the pieces together. When one grieves, of course physically you reflect what you feel and it takes a little at a time and day by day to get back to your old self again. It takes time to be able to find things with the same beauty as you once did. It takes time to understand that it is ok to feel what you feel at the moment that you feel it.

It’s little by little, day by day that you start to realize that the ending of something is just the beginning of something new. The end is never the end and even when a chapter ends, life must go on and so you must go on.

It’s little by little, day by day because nothing is done all at once. You don’t just grow from night to day, you don’t just heal one moment to the next, you don’t get over a grief so quick. It’s ok to grieve because in the grieving you are processing what is going on, you are letting out all that you feel, you are little by little putting your own pieces together in a way that only you can do for yourself.

There are different kinds of grieving and although I’m grieving my dad’s passing, one can grieve their marriage or anything that was so meaningful to them. Grief is grief and no matter what the grief is, it takes little by little, day by day.

Laziness…The Killer of a Great Life…

We have a criminal in town and it doesn’t discriminate and it can attack anyone at any moment in life. Yes, it is a criminal because it kills your chances to a great life, it kills your dreams and steals your motivation in life. This criminal doesn’t care if you are a male or female, what your ethnicity is nor how old you are. Yes, I dare to say it, that criminal is called laziness!

“Stop being so dramatic Aura!” you’re probably saying to yourself. No, this is not being dramatic because laziness is a big criminal if you allow it to creep into your life. There are many who would love a great life but yet allow themselves to be lazy to do what it takes to have that life they want.

Laziness can attack at any moment in time. Many times we are not so aware of it, other times we are. One sure way you can know whether or not laziness is attacking you is that you start to make excuses as to why you can’t do this nor have that. When I write “excuses”, I’m not referring to excuses that are legitimate like when one has real problems going on in their life. I think you know very well the kind of excuses I mean because deep down inside you know that those excuses are just a way of you convincing yourself that you can’t do this or have that.

Another way to know when laziness is attacking you is by you knowing that you have to get something done yet you don’t feel like doing it. When you don’t feel like doing something, you will be tempted to come up with excuses to justify why you can’t do something. One thing to keep in mind is that anything that you want to accomplish in life you won’t always feel like doing but you do it anyway because you know you have the bigger picture in mind.

If you say you want something but yet you are not doing anything to get what you want, yup, that’s laziness attacking you, trying to kill your dreams. Wanting something is not enough for you to have what you want. You have to take action. You have to be doing something every single day in order to get closer to whatever it is that you want. That is the hardest part. Wanting is easy, the secret is in the doing and when you start viewing the doing part as something hard or impossible, you are allowing laziness to take over by once again, justifying why you can’t do something.

My hope with this post is to make you aware of ways in which you may be allowing laziness to kill your chance of having the life that you want. If you start paying attention to these signs that I just wrote, you will know that laziness is trying to take over and then be able to stop this from creeping into your life.

The Purpose of Disappointments

Disappointments…..it’s just one of those things that we will get for as long as we live because they are a part of life. It sucks to be disappointed but they are a part of life and it is necessary to accept this. So if this is part of life, then what is the purpose of disappointments? That’s what I would like to discuss in today’s post.

There are different kinds of disappointments. Some disappointments will come from people, others from circumstances. Some will come from ourselves, believe it or not. There are many possible reasons as to what led to that disappointment such as expectations that one may have, needs that were not met, even miscommunication or no communication from the other person or even from yourself (unfortunately, miscommunication or no communication is a big one and it shouldn’t be this way).

It is important whenever you are disappointed to understand why you are disappointed and what led to that disappointment. This is going to shed some light as to what happened and what you can learn from it so that should something like this happen again, you will know how to respond. Life is wonderful in the sense that Life always gives us back the lessons that we must learn and it will test us to see if we actually learned our lesson or not.

Disappointments can feel like a sour experience. Depending on the degree of your expectations, or the feelings you have towards that person that disappointed you or depending on the circumstance is what will dictate how sour that experience will be for you. Emotions and your perception of what happened play a big role in how you experience things. By no means should you just brush the disappointment you feel under the rug as something insignificant. This is almost equivalent to you having a deep wound and covering it up with a Band-Aid hoping it will heal on its own. I always encourage to feel the pain, although it sucks, and take care of the pain.

I’ve said and wrote before that part of well-being is growth. In order to grow, changes are involved and where there is change, there is learning as well. Disappointments offer you an opportunity to grow in many ways that can make you a better person. It may suck that a friendship broke, a relationship is torn, an opportunity may seem lost, but I’m starting to realize certain things- those that are meant to stay in your life will stay, if a relationship means so much to you, both of you will work things out and opportunities are never lost.

Allow yourself to grow from that disappointment. Look at what you could have done differently, not just what that other person did wrong, but also look at what role you played in that situation. If an opportunity didn’t seem to be yours, that’s because there is something better that is yet to come. If you take everything that comes to you, you will not leave space for the thing that is truly for you. Disappointments have their purpose but it is up to you to let that purpose come forth.
