Honesty Is Truly the Best Policy

Probably as you read this title, you thought about being honest with others. Even though it is important to be honest with others, this is not the honesty that I am referring to. There is one person that is very important in your life; one person who truly has so much power in your life, one person whom you ALWAYS need to be honest with so that you can be guided to the things and people that you want and that person is YOU.

Yes, the first person that you must be honest with is yourself. Honesty is truly the best policy and it only hurts you to not be honest with your own self. How does not being honest with yourself hurts you? The lack of honesty toward yourself hurts your chances of ever being happy. This is because you will most likely do things that doesn’t come from your true essence which is your soul. Most likely you will do things to please others. Most likely you will seek approval from others. This lack of honesty can prevent you from even listening to your own intuition. This, then, leads you to situations and people that you can’t help but wonder “how did this ever happen?”.

Lack of honesty toward yourself leads you to being confused and lost. This is because if you are not truly honest with yourself, how do you know what you need out of things and people? How do you know what will truly make you happy? How do you know what truly works for you and what doesn’t? What honesty does is that it leads you to the root of things that help you get what you want out of life.

Lack of honesty makes you numb to your own inner truth. How are you supposed to know who you are if you can’t be honest with yourself? Even though there are universal truths, I believe that each of us have our own truth according to our true essence. This truth may not resonate with those around you or even your own environment but how are you supposed to know that when you are not honest with yourself? Honesty sheds light to any darkness that you may be experiencing in your life.

Lack of honesty ruins your chances of ever having the life that you want in every regards. This is because that lack of honesty prevents you from having a deep understanding of who you are. Perhaps you are doing things just because everyone else around you are doing it, but is it really what you want to do? Perhaps you have been so used to eating a certain way because that’s how you grew up eating, but is that way of eating working for you? Perhaps the career that you have doesn’t bring joy to you, so why is it that you are in that profession? Once again, honesty sheds light where there is darkness. If you are in the dark of who you really are, this will hurt your well-being tremendously.

So with this post, I want to encourage you to be honest with yourself as to the decisions that you make, the things that you allow in your life and even the things that you got rid of in your life. Be honest with yourself as to the things that you really want. Be honest with yourself as to how you really want to feel…..because honesty is truly the best policy.

It’s a Must…

Every year we all make new year resolutions. It’s very important to make new year resolutions because they motivate us to get going and to do what we must do to achieve our goals. However, there are certain goals that many of us have in mind to do and yet many seem to either “fail” or give up. I write “fail” in quotation marks because you don’t actually fail, you just learn. Many have the goal of losing weight, of achieving this or that but I would like to write this in today’s post…anything that has to do with your health and well-being then it’s a must.

That’s a phrase I encourage you to use this year. It’s a must to lose weight if your weight is affecting your health. The reason why I write “if it’s affecting your health” is because being “skinny” or fit isn’t the only form of beauty. There are those who have more meat on them and they too are so beautiful in their own way. I believe in weight loss when losing weight will mean better health, not for superficial reasons.

It’s a must to nurture your spirit so if you feel the desire to do this or that then do it. It is a must because having a healthy spirit means a healthy person overall. Everything that we feel, think and do affects EVERY area of our life.

It’s a must to cultivate love. Love for yourself, love for others and if you’re married or have a companion, it is a must both for that person and yourself to cultivate that love in every way.

I can go on and on with this topic on today’s post but the purpose is not to write a long post but to encourage you that instead of making things a goal you make it a must. Musts tend to get accomplished as opposed to wants or wishing.

What Determines the Choices That We Make?

Last week I wrote about how it all comes down to our choices but what is it that determines the choices that we make? Well, that’s what I would like to write about in today’s post.

There are many factors that influence the choices that we make. Two big ones are our feelings and our mind frame at the time that we make our choices. We are emotional beings and as emotional beings, we are highly influenced by how we feel and that plays a big role in the decisions that we make. When you feel down, needy, or you are coming from a place of emptiness, of course you won’t make the right choices. When you are tired or stressed, you are most likely to choose foods that are sugary or the bad carbs. When you feel lonely and needy or don’t feel so good about yourself, you are most likely to choose people that are no good for you. Likewise, when you feel good and relaxed, you are most likely to choose healthy foods. When you feel good about yourself and feel a sense of fullness, you are most likely to choose people that are good for you. This is the power of emotions.

Your mind frame also plays a huge role in the choices that you make. The wrong mindset can attract even your worst nightmare. It will feel as if you are a magnet for bad things and in essence, when your mindset is wrong for you, indeed you do attract the wrong things. It’s not that you necessarily attract it, but it is as if you can not filter what is bad for you. When your mindset is not right, of course your emotions won’t be right. Everything is connected, therefore, where your thoughts are, your emotions will follow as well. The wrong mindset can lead you to thinking that what you would like is not possible, leading you to make the wrong choices. However, when your mindset is right, you will find yourself looking at the possibilities of things no matter how hard something may seem.

When making a decision, it is important to understand your reason behind that decision and the consequences of that decision. Everything has consequences whether they are good or bad. Consequences are nothing more than the results that we get from every action we take.

This Week’s Message…

For the past two weeks and still this week have been one of the most difficult times in my family’s life. A family emergency has taken me away from several of the things that I was working on and the lessons that I already knew have hit me even harder and it is the message that I would like to share with you this week.

Many times we get so fixated on things that do not matter. We get frustrated because of small things and we sometimes miss out on still seeing the blessing that we have in our life. We don’t really understand what it truly means to be rich in life and don’t seem to value what we have until we either have it in a limited capacity or we lose it. This week’s message is…if you can see, if you can walk, if you can hear, if you can talk, if you have your family and are surrounded by love, if you have health….you have EVERYTHING.

What we sometimes fail to realize is that these are the foundation from which we can build upon. Many times we take our health for granted. Many times we take for granted our body’s capacity and we take for granted those who love us. When we do this, we risk missing out on so many greatness and on building from that foundation. We risk delaying our happiness or we just risk not being happy at all.

When you have health, you are able to do basically anything you want since the state of your body is what determines what you can and can not do. The state of your body determines your lifestyle since a compromised health can mean a limited lifestyle since there are things that the body is not able to do.

Love is the basis for everything, it is truly the nutrient to your heart, your soul, your mind and your body since the mental, emotional and physical aspects are all connected. Knowing that you are loved can mean that you have added strength to get through any tough situation life may throw your way. This is why investing in your family as well as those who truly love you is a must.

For your well-being it is a must that you remember this one message that I have for you this week. And even if you are missing any one of these things, there are still things that you have that are a part of that foundation of well-being. Build upon that foundation and remember….if you can see, if you can walk, if you can hear, if you can talk, if you have your family and are surrounded by love, if you have health…you have EVERYTHING.
